Meet Lara
Every language I have learned has given me a new way of being myself.
I grew up between two cultures, with a Mexican mother and an American father. English was the language of school and clear thinking. Spanish was the language of home, of my grandmother's kitchen and of saying things with a lot of feeling. Very early, I sensed that each language opened a different part of me.
At 18, I left for Europe, and by 23 I had traveled to more than 20 countries. I studied at Sciences Po in Paris, earned a BA in Francophone Studies from UCLA, and lived and taught in France, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. French gave me elegance, Portuguese gave me warmth and lightness, and each new language showed me a new rhythm, a new sense of humor, and new ways to express what I felt.
I also know the humility of sitting in the student's seat, with so much to say and so few words. Even then, connection is possible, through a smile, a shared meal, or a laugh.
I would love to be your guide as you discover a new language and the parts of yourself waiting to be expressed through it, wherever it leads you.
Bienvenidos. Bienvenue. Bem-vindos. Welcome.
